Here at Simply Paving, we've been providing block paving to the nation since 2005. Thanks to this experience, we’re experts in finding the driveway pavers that work best for you and your home.
Continue reading, below, for the answers to the most frequently asked questions we’ve received about block paving for driveways.
What is block paving?
- Block paving is a special type of paving, most commonly used for driveways.
- Its heavy-duty, durable design means that it can handle cars and vehicle traffic without breaking, cracking or splitting.
- Do not use conventional concrete pavers for driveways though, they are better suited to patios and walkways.
How much does block paving cost?
Regardless of whether you’re looking for driveway block pavers or you’re after cobble block pavers, our collection caters to any budget.
As specialist block paving suppliers, we offer a wide variety of different driveway paving for any home. Just pick the pavers with the features and price range to suit your project.
How to style block pavers
- Block paving is not just practical, it also offers an attractive finish to your outdoor aesthetic.
- You can choose between a wide variety of colours and styles, catering to both contemporary and traditional driveways.
What colour driveway paving blocks are available?
From neutral colours to modern motifs, our block pavers are available in a variety of different styles.
For black or grey block pavers, you can explore the Charcon Europa and Bradstone StoneMaster options, which are perfect for contemporary driveways. For more traditional homes, our red driveway blocks and brown drive paving blocks offer more natural colour schemes.
What block paving sizes are available?
Our collection of driveway pavers features many different block paving shapes and sizes. For example, our classic brick-style pavers are sized at 200x100x60mm. Alternatively, we have different styles in packs that range from 250x150mm to 100x150mm.
As specialist paving block suppliers, we’re happy to help you find the right fit for your driveway.
Can you paint concrete block pavers?
You can paint block paving, just as you can paint any pavers. However, you need to make sure you use specially designed paint for the job. Ideally, you should look for brick paint that’s stain resistant. This will help you paint concrete block paving, while also sealing it against weathering and everyday damage.
How to maintain block pavers
- One of the best ways to maintain block paving is to seal the gaps in-between the blocks. This will help with cleaning efforts and ensures weeds and moss won’t grow in-between the pavers.
- Cleaning your driveway with a pressure washer is ideal, though it’s possible to clean block paving with just warm water and bleach.
How do I clean block paving?
There are many ways of safely cleaning your block paving; some of which are only suited to block pavers as other conventional pavers aren’t as durable.
Thankfully, the most effective ways of cleaning block paving are often the simplest. One way you can is by making good use of bleach, a stiff brush, and some elbow grease.
First, you’ll need to dilute the bleach into an appropriate cleaning solution. Mix the bleach with water, roughly to a five-part warm water, one-part bleach ratio. Pour the cleaning mixture onto your driveway and start brushing.
Once you’ve scrubbed the driveway, leave it for approximately 15 minutes. Once you’ve left the bleach to do its job, rinse the driveway blocks with some warm water.
How to remove oil from block paving
Soapy water and elbow grease will only get you so far; more stubborn stains need a deep cleaning solution.
For example, if you’re trying to remove oil from block paving, then a pressure washer could be the answer. Not only does it save you getting on your hands and knees to scrub black spills, but it also makes your driveway look sparkling new within minutes.
Alternatively, you can use cat litter to absorb motor oil stains. Simply add a handful of cat litter directly onto the stain to soak up the liquid and then leave for 10 minutes. Once time is up, just scoop up the litter and throw it away. This method may need to be repeated several times for particularly sticky oil patches.
