Natural Stone Paving

For a garden feature unlike any other, natural stone paving slabs are an ideal solution. The inherent characteristics of natural stone pavers provide individuality to any outdoor space.

You needn't be a paving expert to know that natural stone slabs are the pinnacle of outdoor finishes.

Not only are they fantastic to look at, natural stone pavers are also easy to maintain, naturally frost-resistant and, to top it off, ethically sourced.

From limestone pavers to slate slabs, you'll find a plethora of quality natural stone finishes in our collection.

What is the best stone for patios?

If you've browsed our natural stone collection, you may have wondered which pretty paver you'll choose first.

To make the decision easier, we advise firstly looking at the theme of your patio. Generally speaking, slate and sandstone pavers are well-suited to traditional designs, while modern schemes tend to lean towards limestone and granite pavers.

With this in mind, you shouldn't be afraid to mix things up if you want to combine new and old looks. For instance, our natural limestone pavers evoke a subtle beauty – ideal for both contemporary and classic gardens.

In terms of practicality, one of the best stones for patios is sandstone. Naturally stunning, sandstone pavers are known for their long-lasting, reliable properties – they're also easy to clean and maintain. Similarly, slate paving slabs are a durable patio material which, due to their low water absorption, won't become damaged after a bout of frost or a fierce thunderstorm.

Is natural stone paving slippery?

Nobody wants to spend their hard-earned money on a new set of paving stones, only to find they're as slippery as an ice rink after downpours.

To keep our customers safe, our suppliers make sure all of our natural stone products are designed to stay slip-free during all four seasons. If you're unsure what this looks like, keep an eye out for textured varieties, or choose a natural paver with a rough, flamed finish.

If you plan to use your pavers in areas where high footfall is likely, we recommend taking a look at granite paving. Our Simply Paving natural granite range, for instance, has a highly textured, or 'flamed', finish which grants excellent slip-resistance, no matter the weather. Alternatively, if you want to know more about our non-slip paving slabs then contact us direct on 0800 032 6306 or start a live chat.

Do you sell Indian sandstone?

Yes. At Simply Paving, we provide various Indian sandstone pavers, including riven, blended and smooth varieties.

All the Indian sandstone paving you'll find in our range is naturally hardy. A popular, yet unique, paving choice, Indian sandstone paving is known for its durability, versality and natural beauty.

While they do have kerbside appeal, we strongly advise against using paving slabs or Indian stone paving on driveways. Natural stone paving slabs are specifically quarried for lighter loads, such as foot traffic and dining furniture. As such, they're ideal for patios and footpaths rather than the weight of your family car.

What is calibrated stone paving?

Calibrating stone paving is a simple mechanical operation which takes paving slabs of different thicknesses and processes them to a consistent depth. This is a common technique used on natural stone pavers as it enables a simpler laying process.

You can find a range of calibrated stones within our natural stone pavers collection.
